$1.35M Settlement Paves Way For Jewish High School In Ocean County: Report
Jackson Township's zoning board has settled a $1.35 million lawsuit, allowing construction of an Orthodox Jewish high school, NJ Advance Media reports. The settlement is a decade in the making as, Congregation Oros Bais Yaakov in 2013 filed an application with the township's zoning board seeking a variance and final site-plan approval for an all-girls school, the outlet said. That application was denied the following year, and the congregation sued the township four months later. Four New York City men were arrested in the attack of a student outside Sayreville High School, authorities said. A teenager was attacked because he had an earlier dispute with another student who is a family member or associate of the four adults, Sayreville police said. UPDATED: A knife-wielding suspect was arrested after an incident outside Sayreville War Memorial High School, authorities said. The suspect is pictured. The cause of a fire at an elementary school in Mount Laurel is unknown and remains under investigation, school district officials said Thursday afternoon, Dec. 22 Firefighters and police responded to a fire in a music and artroom before the start of school Thursday at Parkway Elementary School on Ramblewood Parkway, according to Mount Laurel police. New Jersey City University is laying off 30 tenured professors and 19 other faculty jobs as well as cutting 37 percent of its academic programs to help balance its budget, the university announced on Thursday, Dec. 15. Edison school officials plan to form a new commission that would address allegations of sexual assault and harassment, NJ Advance Media reports. The group would comprise 10 to 20 students, parents and school administrators, Superintendent Bernard Bragen told the outlet. Recent Hightstown High School graduate Julia McDaid, 18, was found dead in East Windsor Monday morning, police said. McDaid’s body was found near Bear Brook off of Oak Creek Road around 9:10 a.m., East Windsor Police said in a press release.
