Police Investigating Threat Believed to Be Hoax At CT High School
A Fairfield County high school was temporarily put in lockdown as police investigated a threat that is believed to be a hoax. Norwalk High School was put in its lockdown at approximately noon on Friday, Dec. 3 as police investigated the threat with multiple officers while students and staff remained in the school. The investigation is ongoing, but police said that they believe it to be hoax. Meriden School Locked Down As Police Investigate Report Of Student With Gun
A high school in Connecticut was placed in its lockdown protocol following reports of a student who was allegedly in possession of a handgun. In New Haven County, the Meriden Police Department responded to the Orville H. Platt High School on Coe Avenue shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, where there was a report of a student possibly with the weapon. Police Increase Presence Around CT High School After Threat
There was an increased police presence outside a Connecticut high school after there were allegations that a student made threats against the school, police said. In Hartford County, extra officers responded to the Howell Cheney Technical School in Manchester after a student reportedly expressed a desire to commit a school shooting, though it was later determined that it wasn’t related to a firearm, and instead a knife was recovered from the teen. A Fairfield County teen has been arrested for allegedly sending an inappropriate photo of a student at an area high school throughout the school. Julian Krieg, age 18, of Monroe, was arrested on Friday, Nov. 12, for his involvement in an incident at Masuk High School, said Lieutenant Stephen Corrone, of the Monroe Police. An area college has seen a small spike in new COVID-19 cases as it continues to push students and staff to get vaccinated against the virus. Quinnipiac University, located in Hamden, in New Haven County, Connecticut, is reporting 30 new cases in the past seven days, bringing the total to 32 active cases health officials are monitoring. Students at a Fairfield County high school will be staying home again following a contractor’s error that led to oil being poured into the water supply. Joel Barlow High School in Redding will remain closed after the contractor accidentally poured approximately 20 gallons of fuel oil into the school’s 20,000-gallon water storage tank. Connecticut has introduced new COVID-19 guidance for schools in an effort to keep children learning in the classroom for as long as possible. Gov. Student enrollment in colleges across the United States continues to decline with no signs of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic-related decline in 2020, according to a new report. The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the agency will continue to recommend that children wear masks this winter while in school, regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status.
