PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- More than 200 participants are expected at The Tamarack Tower Foundation’s Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot Thursday, Nov. 27.
The 3.5 fun run/1.7 mile walk -- 10 years and going (or dare we say "gobbling?") -- starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Port Chester High School (registration at the flag pole from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.) and is open to runners -- and walkers -- of any age.
The fee is $25 for adults; $15 for students; details here.
"It's really all about camaraderie" says volunteer Ro Barone. It's also a way to support the efforts of Dave Kucera of County Coach Bus and a Port Chester High School graduate in his quest to provide pajamas and books to thousands of children in shelters and group homes through his Pajama Program’s Stuff a Bus Campaign.
The Somers resident, who runs his campaign in November with the Scarsdale public school system, has been involved with the Port Chester Turkey Trot for the past three years. "It's a great event for the community and the children all benefit," he said.
Participants are asked to bring a donation of a new book or pair of pajamas with them on Thanksgiving morning.
