Roca received honorable mention for her drawing in Pace’s Scholastic Arts and Writing Competition.

The artwork is on display through March 12 at the Choate House Gallery on Pace University's Pleasantville campus, 862 Bedford Road, Entrance 3. The gallery is showing 200 pieces by selected student artists from area high schools.

Roca said art gives her release on life.

“Art is my therapy, allowing me to express my feelings and tell a story of things in life that are indescribable through words,” she said in a statement.

In addition to her art, Roca runs a face painting and cake decorating business.
