Port Chester HS Boasts 14 AP Scholar Award Winners

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester school officials recently announced that 14 students were honored with AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional scoring on recent AP tests.

Five members of the PCHS Class of 2014 were named AP Scholar with Distinction, receiving an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. They are: Caroline DelaCruz, Jonathan Henry, Sarah Kamensky, Layla Santos and Katherine Wojton.

Two members of the Class of 2014 – Daniella Onolilua and Elizabeth Verrastro – earned AP Scholar with Honor awards. They received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more AP exams.

In addition, two current 12th-grade students and five members of the Class of 2014 were named AP Scholars. To earn this distinction, each student received grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. These students are: Jennifer Siranaula and Emmalie Tello – both current seniors – and Safiat Adeogun, Maria Berragan, Kristen Miloro, Anthony Pellegrini, and Timothy Vyskocil.

“We are proud of the accomplishments of these students, many of whom have begun classes this fall at prestigious colleges and universities,” Principal Dr. Mitchell Combs said in a statement. “Between our AP courses and our International Baccalaureate program, our high school offers students a range of opportunities to challenge themselves academically.”
