Pcms Holds Spring Musical Auditions

PORT CHESTER, NY – The Port Chester Middle School Drama Club concluded its week-long audition process for the spring musical "Little Shop of Horrors" with final auditions on Wednesday.

The show's director Mark Zizolfo was impressed by the number of students who came out, and the effort each student put forth.

"We had more than 70 kids show up for Monday's song and dance tutorial, and there were still over 70 here today for the final audition," Zizolfo said. "They all did a very good job."

Zizolfo, who is also the school's chorus and music teacher, referred to the process as "audition boot camp."

"Essentially, we have the students learn the routine and how to audition on Monday and Tuesday, and then we hold the auditions on Wednesday," Zizolfo said.

The play, which will include all those who auditioned, will feature three consecutive performances in early May. Although the audition process has concluded, the cast and crew have a long way to go.

"We will rehearse three times a week for most of the year, and then once a day starting in early April," he said.

The cast list, which still needs to be approved by the principal, will be posted either Thursday afternoon or early Friday morning.
