The deadline to apply for college scholarships offered by SUEZ, the water company, is approaching.
Completed applications must be submitted by March 31.
Port Chester's water company wants to tap all Port Chester students interested in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, computer science and environmental law, among other water-related fields of study.
The money will help Port Chester students planning to pursue a degree in a water industry-related field.
The water company SUEZ announced that it has partnered with the National Association of Water Companies-New York Chapter to offer five $3,000 scholarships to New York high school seniors planning to pursue a degree in a water industry-related field.
The national association is a professional organization representing private water service companies throughout the United States
Through its scholarship program, the organization hopes to encourage young people to pursue careers in fields related to the water industry by providing financial assistance to eligible high school seniors.
Students interested in applying for the five scholarships must meet the following criteria:
-- United States citizen
-- New York resident for at least 5 years
-- High school senior pursuing a degree at a college or university (two- or four-year) as an undergraduate student (part- or full-time)
-- Maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA grading scale
-- Enroll in a curriculum related to the water utility industry or related fields, such as natural resource management, environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, computer science, environmental law, etc.
