Melvin Mayorga Hernandez, 39, was found fatally shot near the complex located in the 2600 block of Kirkwood Place around 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4, after police received a call for a welfare check of a man laying in the parking lot, according to Prince George's County police.

Hernandez's family later posted on GoFundMe seeking support after Hernandez suffered a "heart attack" that led to his death. At this point, it is unclear whether or not Hernandez did in fact suffer a heart attack or was fatally wounded by the gunshot.

Police are still investigating to determine a motive and identify suspects for the crime.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Prince George’s County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
