Rosenberg, along with Trustees Jeffrey Rednick, Jason Klein and Susan Epstein, were sworn in by Rye Brook Judge Anthony Provenzano. Rosenberg, Rednick and Klein were elected in the uncontested elections held March 19, and Epstein was appointed to the board shortly thereafter. Rednick was named deputy mayor for the village.
"This is one of the single most important moments of my life, and the gratitude that I feel to all of those who made this possible is beyond measure," Rosenberg said after being sworn in as Rye Brook's sixth mayor.
"I firmly believe that Rye Brook has turned the corner. We have stemmed the tide of the greatest economic recession since the Great Depression. Under Mayor Joan Feinstein's leadership over the last five years, Rye Brook is in a very healthy and strong financial condition."
Rosenberg looked to the future and some of the projects the board would undertake, including the development of a new comprehensive plan for the village.
"This will an enormous undertaking and will include an outreach to the community, but will ultimately result in a working road map to the future development of Rye Brook. I look forward to that challenge, and ask our resident to please participate in that process. This is one of the most important projects we've ever undertaken."
He also said the board would consider loosening Rye Brook's zoning codes.
"Over the past several years I've heard time and time again that parts of our code are too onerous for both residents and commercial businesses. In the near future this board will address the pros and cons of loosening the zoning code, including the all-important tree regulations, as well as regulations regarding changes to our shopping centers."
He also said he would like to continue to work cooperatively with neighboring municipalities, particularly Port Chester, and see where efficiencies could be found by pooling resources.
