MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- An Ossining man was charged with drunk driving after his vehicle smashed through the front of Chris's Deli in Thornwood early Sunday morning, making a mess of the restaurant, according to Mount Pleasant police.

An SUV driven by Segdo Araujo, 37, was found stuck on a wall across the street from the deli.

When a patrol officer approached, the suspect backed up and went careening across the street -- smashing into the deli, according to Lt. Robert Miliambro, a spokesman for the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Miliambro said the inside of the deli "was a mess" because the driver not only drove into the front of the deli, but inside the store as well.

The owner told News 12, that she was waiting for her insurance company to view the damage and hoped to be back in business quickly, said News 12.

Araujo was released on bail, Miliambro said.
