Port Chester Man, 34, Charged With Unlawfully Collecting Unemployment

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- New York State Police have charged a Port Chester man with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a Class E felony, officials said.

Victor Michaga, 34, was arrested following a complaint from the state Department of Labor Special Investigation Division. According to the division, Michaca allegedly collected more than $27,000 worth of unemployment benefits. He allegedly certified to the Department of Labor weekly that he was unemployed despite being employed at the time. 

Michaga is scheduled to appear Oct. 2 in the City of White Plains Court.
