Vera Davis, 94, Lifelong Port Chester Resident

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Vera K. Davis, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died July 3. She was 94. 

Davis was born Dec. 18, 1917, to Peter and Anna Ushkevich Karpluk. She attended Port Chester High School, where she was a member of the girls field hockey team. She worked as a secretary for Turner Construction in New York City before retiring. 

She was a member of Rye Presbyterian Church. Davis enjoyed gardening and being a part of her neighborhood. 

Davis is survived by two nephews, Kenneth and Richard Karpluk. She was predeceased by a son, Peter Davis, and a brother, William Karpluk. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Craft Memorial Home in Port Chester. A funeral service will follow at noon, with committal at Ferncliff Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rye Presbyterian Church.
