Port Chester's Carver Center Issues Fundraising Challenge

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - The Carver Center in Port Chester is issuing a new challenge to supporters to help it cash in on an offer from two longtime friends to match all donations through the end of the month.

As the center's Annual Appeal comes to a close, a pair of supporters will match every dollar given to the center until June 30.

“We are grateful for this challenge because it gives us an opportunity to finish strong for this fiscal year,”  said Development Director Elizabeth Cook.

The center has raised $12,000, and Cook says some regular donors have even increased the amount of their annual gifts. These funds go toward things like pool cleaning, hiring lifeguards and maintaining programs.

According to its mission statement on its website, the Carver Center "offers programs and resources designed to meet the educational, recreational, cultural and civic needs of children, youth and adults, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of underprivileged youth."

Gifts are being accepted online at by clicking the “donate now” tab. Supporters can also mail a check, Attention Development Department, to Carver Center, 400 Westchester Ave., Port Chester, NY, 10573.
