Port Chester Woman Dies After Getting Caught In Jersey Shore Rip Current

A 24-year-old Westchester woman died after she got caught in a rip current on Long Beach Island at the Jersey Shore, where she was attending a wedding, on Saturday.

Both Kristi Pisano of Port Chester and her boyfriend were pulled by the current after getting knocked off their feet by a wave on an unguarded beach in the Spray Section of Long Beach Township, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

The two were planning to attend the man's sister's wedding that afternoon, the prosecutor's office said.

Pisano, who was pulled unresponsive from the surf, died on Sunday, according to authorities.

Pisano is the second person to die because of strong ocean currents.at Long Beach Island this month, according to philly.com.

Pisano is survived by her parents, Thomas and Diana, stepfather Kent Mitchell, as well as grandparents Aldo and Rosa Pisano and sisters Kiara and Jasmine, Jessica Marie and Alyssa Nicole.

Friends may visit Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home in Greenwich on Thursday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Burial will be private on Friday.
