Port Chester To Test New Emergency Alert System

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The Village of Port Chester will be testing its newly implemented Emergency Alert System on Nov. 4 at 12:00 p.m.

The test will send a phone message to all landline phones within the village and is designed to check the capacity of phone infrastructure in preparation for future emergencies.

The test will simulate an overload of the messaging system and will not reflect the actual strain that a real alert would place on Port Chester’s landline phone carriers.

Residents can also register to receive emergency alerts via mobile phone by texting "PORTCHESTER" to 888777; via Facebookby creating a free account with the service provider at http://www.Nixle.com and using the zip code 10573 to locate the Port Chester service.
