Port Chester Residents Forced To Evacuate Before Sandy

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Port Chester entered a state of emergency on Sunday, forcing several residents to evacuate their homes as Hurricane Sandy nears.

Village Manager Christopher D. Steers ordered that homeowners on Riverdale Avenue from Putnam Avenue to the Greenwich boundary line, Grey Rock South and North Main Street from Mill Street to the Greenwich line evacuate on Sunday.

Port Chester High School will serve as an emergency shelter for those who do not have other options.
