The water emergency includes residences in Hawthorne, Thornwood and Valhalla, officials said.
According to Mount Pleasant Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi parts for the two pumps have to come from out-of-state and are expected to arrive early Wednesday. If repairs go well, all three pumps should be back on line by evening.
All residences and businesses are currently on a high water restriction that includes no car washing and the use of lawn sprinklers. Residents are also being asked to use as little water as possible until the pump is repaired. Currently, the city has about three million gallons of water due to residents conserving water, Fulgenzi said.
Once repairs are completed, officials will post information on the city's website and notify residents through the city's notification system that sends both emails and text alerts. Residents can sign up for the notification service by clicking here.
The call for conservation is to make sure there is sufficient water supply for all residents.
