The open house is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the center at 40 Beech St. in Port Chester. The event offers parents and campers the opportunity to meet with professional teaching artists, see demonstrations of clay projects and techniques and get information on camp themes and activities. The open house is free and open to families.

Clay Art Center's artist/teachers will be on hand during the open house to help campers ages 6 and up try out hand-building or the potter’s wheel for the first time.

The center’s summer camp offers 28 weekly, themed camps for ages 6 to 15.

"Camps offer young artists the chance to develop their imaginations and gain self-confidence while working in the transformational medium of clay," representatives said.

Younger students ages 6-9 will be able to choose from themes including “Colossal Coliseum,” “Minecraft in Clay,” and “Monsters, Myths, and Magic.” Older students age 10 and up can use the potter’s wheel as a tool to create unique functional and sculptural pieces of art during camps like “Reinventing the Wheel” and “Wheel Throwing Boot Camp.”

Clay Art Center is seeking reliable high school and college students who would be interested to volunteer or intern with the programs this summer. Interested individuals are asked to contact communityarts@clayartcenter.org.
