PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Celebrity wedding event planner David Tutera's magic usually happens behind the scenes but at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14 the Port Chester native will be front and center at The Capitol Theatre sharing his philosophy on dreaming big.

The show promises to be filled with advice on all kinds of entertaining along with several different giveaways. "Every time I go over to my 'Dream Bigger Giveaway Box,' I'll pull a seat number," said Tutera. "That lucky person could win a makeover, dress, jewelry, invitations, candles or crafts from my different product lines. It’s a great way to add energy and excitement to the appearance."

Though Tutera has been back to Port Chester on various occasions -- he helped support a fundraiser at Corpus Christi Church, where he went as a child, and delivered a commencement speech at Port Chester High school, where he graduated -- he's never performed at The Cap before. "I'm excited to share with my fellow Port Chester natives all that I’ve been up to," he said.

That includes a couple of books, a TV show, "My Fair Wedding With David Tutera" on WE tv, various retail partnerships and a wedding dress collection with Mon Cheri. He is also a professional speaker who lectures on weddings, lifestyle and design.

"I always wanted to be doing something big and I have been blessed with this career for 27 years," he told the Daily Voice. "Being on television has also created a platform that has allowed me to make people’s dreams come true. I have been able to help people achieve things they thought they never could and that is truly rewarding."

Asked what his top tips for brides would be, Tutera said: "Do your research. Pull photos of what you love and don’t be afraid to try on several different styles—even if it’s something you wouldn’t normally try on—you’d be surprised! The fit, look and style of your gown is super important in setting the tone for your wedding and, of course, feeling beautiful."
