“Last year was such a huge success that we knew we would be holding the event on a yearly basis,” said Aimee Nichols, president of the Chamber of Commerce and owner of Berger Hardware in Hawthorne. “We have such an interesting and impressive mix of businesses in our Town, and Mt. Pleasant Day gives them a chance to get out into the community and let everyone know more about their goods and services. As a lifelong resident, it was such a delight to see the residents, their friends, children and business owners all get together and celebrate our town.”
The roads will be closed and open for foot traffic only on Elwood Avenue in Hawthorne, from Gordo’s Restaurant down to Loving Moments Florist at Cross Street. The Car show will take place at the Hawthorne Train Station.
There will be local businesses, an abundance of local food and drinks, giveaways, rides and live music. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held the following Sunday, Aug. 23.
