The free event is scheduled for 6-9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22, at the park’s South Pavilion, 95 Dearborn Ave., according to event organizers.
Port Chester-based MC/DJ John Vilasi is set to run the event, which is geared toward older children and adults alike.
“You should be dancing … Yeah!” said Vilasi.
Disco, which peaked during the mid-1970s, features a blend of funk, soul, pop and salsa. Well-known performers of the genre included Donna Summer, the Bee Gees, Boney M, KC and the Sunshine Band, The Trammps, Gloria Gaynor and Chic.
At the July 22 event, Vilasi plans to offer new a generation the chance to “Boogie Oogie Oogie.”
Toward the end of the event – at 9:15 p.m. – the Playland Amusement Park is set to begin a fireworks display.
According to organizers, the event will be held in the rain or shine unless severe thunderstorms occur. Picnicking is encouraged, and take-out food and drinks can be purchased at Seaside Johnnies restaurant. Parking at the event costs $5 for non-residents and $4 for Resident Permit holders. Those with Senior Permits park free.
