What Are The Chances For A White Christmas In Port Chester?

As the excitement of the holiday season builds, residents should think dreary, cold and wet instead of a white when it comes to the weather for the days leading up to Christmas, according to AccuWeather.com.

Those heading off to travel for the holidays on Thursday will have less than ideal conditions in the area.

The drab weather headed to the area is what's left of a storm that will dump snow across a wide swath of the Midwest before it charges into the Northeast bringing rain instead of the white stuff on Thursday, a busy one for travelers leading into the weekend.

For those hitting the roads Thursday, the dreary and wet conditions may slow their travel across the region, and some rain may briefly turn to snow flurries, making for slippery driving conditions.

However, by Friday -- one of the busiest travel days of the year -- weather conditions are expected to improve with sunny skies and dry conditions across most the region and along Interstate 95, said AccuWeather.com.

There should be rain and drizzle at time Christmas Eve on Saturday, but the high temperature with climb to the mid 40s, keeping the precipitation liquid.

It will clear up for Christmas Day (Sunday) with partly cloudy skies during the day with a high temperature in the mid 40s and an overnight low around the freezing mark. There is a chance of rain in the evening on Christmas Day.
