But that doesn't mean it will be easy throughout much of the state, with winter weather advisories in effect for several upstate locations, including as far south as Binghamton.
The latest forecasts, though, show the Hudson Valley should remain mostly free of any significant wintry precipitation, with now only slight chances even in the points farthest north: Putnam, Dutchess and extreme Northern Westchester.
Putnam and those Northern Westchester towns along the Putnam border could see some freezing rain and sleet between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.
In Dutchess, there's the potential for up to an inch of accumulating snow or an icy glaze, with a slight chance of snow after 4 a.m. Thursday and continuing through 9 a.m., followed by a chance of rain and snow between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
For Putnam, Dutchess, all of Westchester and Rockland, there is a 40 percent chance of light rain after noon Thanksgiving Day, which will bring cloudy skies with a high in the low to mid 40s with wind-chill values between 30 and 40.
There is a chance of drizzle through midnight Friday.
The overnight low Thursday into Friday should stay above the freezing mark. Black Friday will be mostly cloudy throughout the day with a high in the upper 40s.
