"Greenburgh 7 Superintendent Ronald Ross called the state's mandated 2 percent tax cap a "death deal" for public education at the board of education's budget meeting in April, which kept Greenburgh's 2012-2013 budget increase at 2.5 percent" After living in the GC7 District for 20+ years I can't even take anything that goes on there seriously. It's deceit, nonsense and waste from end to end but it is also indicative of how the entire TOV Greenburgh operates. It's a crying shame too as the district could have been a great district. Maybe someday it will but I doubt it from the looks of some of the statements made by Ross. SMDH View Comment

Right and wrong. Rules, obligations and law. As adults it is assumed that we understand these things. Certainly we expect our elected officials to not only understand but abide. Put an end to the nonsense we have been consumed with debating in Greenburgh, not only on this matter, but many, many other past, present and future matters to come. Let's elect a leader who understands right, wrong, rules, obligations and law. Mr. Feiner has had a hold, commands his audience through divide and conquer. Although I'm enjoying my FREE access to their website since their negative press, since they decided they would charge a fee from the over-taxed and politically burdened within the geographic of their reading interest. TOWN WEBSITE 2006: SCHOOL POLICE RESOURCE OFFICER PROTECTS KIDS--ACCESSIBLE RESOURCE FOR STUDENTS Release Date: October 03, 2006 I am preparing my 2007 budget. One of the initiatives that the town started a few years back was the School police resource officer. The town has partnered with the Central 7 School district and assigns a school resource officer to the WoodlandsMiddle Schooland High School. The town absorbs 50% of the costs of the resource officer—the other half is paid for by the school district. Other school districts within Greenburgh that are interested in having a school resource officer assigned to schools in their district should contact Supervisor Feiner at pfeiner@greenburghny.com before the end of October –when the budget is submitted to the Town Board. The School Resource Officer is a nationally recognized program. The program enables communities like ours to bring the principles and philosophy of community policing directly to the school setting. The officer is considered by the US Dept of Justice as a law enforcement officer, counselor, teacher and liaison between law enforcement and the community. School resource officers teach kids about penal law. They assist the Department’s Juvenile Aid Unit. They participate in school programs. They provide a perspective of the police that kids can relate to. The officer makes kids, parents and teachers feel safer at school. I would welcome the opportunity to expand the program to any school district in Greenburgh that would like to participate in the initiative. For the love of God! Is it too much to ask that the politicians zip it for a bit? Paul: Honestly!? You can't seem to give it a break. SRO? Do you believe the role of an SRO in a school has anything at all to do with stopping or preventing a crazed gunman from murdering 20 babies? Of course not. The SRO program is to curtail in school violence; mentoring, but you know that already. You just moved along to the next best something or other to throw against the wall to see what sticks to propel your opinion, your name, along in the media. Explain how signing a petition to ban a gun show from the Westchester County Center is an effort towards ending this type of violence? It appears that you are not against guns from what I've been reading, just don't want them in your back yard or better yet, just need to draw attention to yourself by advocating for the ban at the County Center ONLY. I'm distressed at the amount of articles here containing your name, facebook posts, blog comments you have made since the shootings. None of which offer anything more than some ridiculous illusion that you give a hoot. Why don't you go visit with some of the families in Newtown and see how you might help them? The only time you've ever gotten off your keyboard to physically help is when you've had press in tow, with cameras. Can you please knock it off until these poor babies have been buried? My apologies but I am going to complain here. The Town of Greenburgh has NOT done enough. Paul: I emailed you for help to find firewood on 10/31 explaining that I had been almost everywhere and it was sold out, driving was an issue and could you please advise. You recommended Home Depot, Costco and Underhill?? I explained that many many people were looking as well with no luck. Next day I fled Hartsdale because we were freezing and mostly because I knew if I stayed and things got any worse, I would be in big trouble for help. I left to stay with family in Queens were there was NO GAS AT ALL. I could not get information from the town regarding my Con Ed electrical service status and Con-Ed was publishing incorrect information. I drove everyday on fumes from Queens to CT ( did not stop in Westchester) to fill up, come back to H'dale, drop my child to school and then go see if I had power, head back to Queens. While I did this I saw you on Ch 7 news, NBC?, read numerous tweets, FB postings blah blah about your outrage at Con-Ed but I could NOT FIND any organized efforts in a concise way to communicate information or important information, hotlines and such anywhere in one place. Only through my efforts via internet could I get real information about what was happening in Greenburgh. Who had lights? Who had an extra generator? Who was in danger and needed assistance? Where was gas? Firewood? I did know to go to the Library to get warm and charge my phone. I did know that TDYCC was open I did know that you added an "angles" program but WHERE IS THE TOWNS ORGANIZED EFFORT TO ASSIST? The 1st phone # you published for Con-Ed was incorrect. 1800 coned?? I am back in my home today with power but I knew about it only through communicating with the 1 family left on my block who stayed behind. Con-Ed still reports to me that my power is OFF. Terrible. With all of the social networking you use Paul, you would think you would have used it to communicate in an effective, useful, manner. What would it take to organize a team to go in and clean it so that people can at the very least have a temporary place to stay and I don't just mean the people of Greenburgh! I have been staying several miles from Rockaways/Breezy and I can tell you that these people need places to stay. Some are trying to find rentals and places in classrooms for their children. The efforts by the general public downstate put this town's efforts to shame. Also, for people without power here with pets this has been a particularly bad nightmare. Why haven't they been able to find help? Why hasn't the town contacted the vets, animal hospitals or shelters and organized an effort to temp shelter pets so that PEOPLE can find places to stay as they have been told they can not accept pets? I have rotting food from 2 refrigerators and 1 freezer in my driveway. Friday is my usual pickup. I dragged it to the curb and them realized that today is recycle? Wow. I just dragged the stinking mess back. TUESDAY is my next pick up. Is it too much to ask for the town to be proactive enough to realize that thousands of residents without power have rotting food laying around and efforts should be made to change garbage pickups? I could go on but I will stop here. The Town of Greenburgh has NOT DONE enough. I will extend my help in anyway possible to anyone in need. Greenburgh has not done enough. They should have had allowed people to PILE leaves this weekend and had them PICKED UP regardless to the new policy. Despite my best efforts, "I" have not be able to keep a drain at the corner of my property clear due to leaves. Looks like every drain is in the same condition. E. Hartsdale Ave.will surely flood as nothing was done after the 2007 flood but finger pointing and flood studies. The town was warned BEFORE the 07 flood of problems in the sewers along EHA. Let's see what happens now. I hope the businesses will be spared but....... View Comment

Complete madness. Reminds me of the Obama Inauguration party he organized at TDYCC complete with bus service from GC7 schools,food, all free of charge, until he was called out on it. It's times like these that I'm embarrassed to be a Dem in Greenburgh. View Comment

*Blink Blink* I’m I dreaming? Slap me now because I believe I just read a quote for Mr. Ross saying “ We want to find a way to help their parents begin to bring students back. They are missing out on a great education."Sweet! 22 years of living in this school district and hoping someone would “get it” and here it is. Well, well. Thank you Mr. Ross for stepping up and saying what every other Superintendant would never say, they really never even wanted and even took steps to deter others from enrolling into the district. While I cannot agree with Mr. Ross on missing out on a “great” education I do believe that a great education is possible in the future for GC7 students IF THE DISTRICT ENCOURAGES ALL FAMILIES TO ENROLL THEIR CHILDREN. Mr. Ross is also mistaken about “out-of-district”. The 1200 or so students (roughly 40% of all school age children in the district) that attend other schools do so privately and at great expense. These are not rich families and most do not have them enrolled in religious schools for religious purposes. It is mostly because the GC7 district underperforms, and, more importantly, the district has discouraged them from enrolling! I will NOT provide details publicly (feel free to contact me Mr. Ross!) but I can say from my 1st hand experience when my daughter attended K at Lee F. back 14 years ago, Nettie Webb made it her business to tell CERTAIN families to look elsewhere for education. Undaunted I enrolled my daughter. Defeated, sad and angry, she did not return the next September. Oh Boy!….she singlehandedly did a great deal of damage to the district! Well, I certainly hope Mr. Ross is sincere and not just pandering to the public for the next budget vote. If he is, I’ll give him credit for trying a different approach as the threats to lose busing for private students (illegal and should not have ever been stated) and like scare tactics of the past to get the budget voted “in” were deplorable. I firmly believe the community will prosper and the school district will be formidable if the district is sincere and takes a good hard look at its past mistakes and corrects them. The community needs to reexamine the need to go private as well. Step up folks! This is a real chance to make a REAL CHANGE. The entire community needs to work at it and rest assured, there are bad apples on each side of this fence that will want it to remain divided. Too late for my family. My youngest is senior at Maria. When she graduates, we will be moving on. I won’t be missing the rude and shabby treatment I’ve received; my kids have received, over the years from the district. For example, requesting working papers from the nurses office; “Why can’t THESE people get them at their schools?” within earshot..and the wasteful spending? Heck, I’ve been around long enough to hear firsthand the accounts of, say, buying tennis balls for the district and when asked by the merchant which balls were to be supplied, the answer being “ whichever is most expensive” and the many, many bus runs at games, to transport cheerleaders back HOME at various times and hey! The BOE needs new laptops! Right? All while ranking tops on spending per student in the country. I even tried to hop on the spending gravy train when the district thought it a good idea to pay for and send Woodland Juniors outside for SAT Prep courses a few years back (per a BOE member) . I called to get my then junior onboard but I was told the program “did not exist” As for the Manhattanville scholarship business? I won’t go into detail but the BOE (Terry: please don’t contact me about it now) ) knows I’ve never received a real answer to my question of who in the district qualifies for this and I know why they won’t answer. Yes. Some of “these” people were interested and listening. Shame really. All of the cries “It’s for the children!” that goes on at meetings and no one ever means ALL of the children. *steps off of soapbox* View Comment

and....just a mile down Dobbs Ferry Road where have the Fortress Bible Church and School debacle and judgement against the town that will cost the tax payers 5+ million dollars...what? Feiner breaks the law and claims TRAFFIC was the issue? Feiner: "Here, in evaluating the church’s application to build a large combined school and church immediately adjacent to the busy entrance to the Sprain Brook Parkway on Dobbs Ferry Road, the town relied on its traffic expert, who advised the town that the project as proposed would cause unsafe and dangerous traffic conditions." Feiner continues to maintain that there are traffic concerns when the court found that experts and the NYS Department of Transportation had no traffic issues. He also claims the town would "welcome the Fortress Bible School" after twelve years of blocking their attempts to move forward. The town has spent an unknown sum of taxpayer money on legal and consultant fees to block the church and to defend themselves in the lawsuit and now stands to pay $4-$5 million in damages at a time when the budget of the municipality is strapped.
