Port Chester Jaguars Capture Winter Soccer Title

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – The Port Chester Soccer Club Jaguars 16-Under age group team went unbeaten in five games to win the Superdome Sports Winter League Boys High School Division II indoor championship in a series played from Feb. 11 through March 10.

“The players had excellent team work and demonstrated great sportsmanship in every game,” said Jaguars coach Carolos Gonzales of Port Chester.

Joel Arevalo led the Jaguars with 15 goals and the team completed the tournament with a record of 4-0-1. The Jags outscored their opponents 23-11. The Jaguars practice twice a week at the Columbus Soccer Field in Port Chester.

The Jaguars are preparing for the upcoming spring season that begins April 16 and will play in the Metro Youth Soccer League, which consist of 10 games played in a round-robin format with teams from the East Hudson and Hudson Valley. The Jags will also participate in the U.S. Youth Soccer Eastern N.Y. State Championships.

The Jaguars players are Hugo Arriaga (New Rochelle), Kevin Cifuentes (Yonkers), Roger Dolores (Yonkers), Kevin Lasko (Greenwich, Conn.), Kevin Marroquin (Yonkers), Rodrigo Martinez (Mount Vernon), and Port Chester residents Merlin Garcia, Steven, Michael Hernandez, Freddy Lopera, Aurelio Lua, Luis Macias, George Olivera, Carlos Paz and Ricky Soto.
