Port Chester High School Scholar-Athlete Earns Award

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Port Chester High School senior Jason Ippolito was named to the 2012 Golden Dozen Scholar-Athlete Team by the Westchester Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame, the school district announced.

“Jason is among the most impressive student-athletes I have coached,” said Port Chester High School varsity football coach Gregory Domestico, in a release. “He works hard at everything he does and is respected and admired by the entire school community.”

The award recognizes Ippolito’s academic excellence, his achievements on the football field and his accomplishments in extracurricular and community service activities.

Ippolito has played on the high school’s varsity football team for three years and was captain of the team for the past two years.  During that time, he earned many football honors, including Most Valuable Player, Offensive Back of the Year and an award from Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla. He also plays on the high school’s baseball team and volunteers in the community.

Ippolito has maintained an outstanding grade-point average while taking challenging courses, including numerous Advanced Placement classes. He is also a member of the school’s National Honor Society. In addition, he has received honors for excellence in science and math and was elected to the math and science honor societies.

Ippolito and the other honorees from around the county will receive their awards at the National Football Foundation awards banquet on Jan. 31 at the Westchester Country Club.  Recipients of the 2012 National Football Foundation College Scholarships also will be announced at the banquet.
