RYE BROOK, N.Y. – The Blind Brook varsity girls' and boys' basketball teams are hoping for a repeat in their respective Section 1 Basketball Championship games Tuesday.

Victories by both teams would result in a dual trip to the Westchester County Center for the final four.

Last year, both teams reached the final four. In order for this to happen, the boys, seeded 11th, will have to beat third-seeded Our Lady of Lourdes Tuesday and the second-seeded girls will have to eclipse seventh-seeded Briarcliff.

“One of the main goals to start the season is to reach the County Center,” senior and boys’ captain Sam Adler said. “Last year, when both teams made it to the County Center, it was extremely fun supporting each other during our games. We will be rooting hard for each other Tuesday.”

The boys advanced to the quarterfinal round with a strong second half in a 52-40 win versus Valhalla. Adler finished with a game-high 16 points and Jeff Visoky added 15 points.

“In the second half, Jeff (Visoky) really stepped up his play, especially defensively,” Adler said. “He probably had four steals that led to layups. His play really helped everyone play with confidence, which helped us get the win.”

Adler knows Blind Brook will be in a test against Lourdes.

“Lourdes is an extremely talented and well-coached team,”Adler said. “They play as a unit and are fairly solid at every position. We will have the height advantage with (center) Brennan (Schaenman)  though, which should help.”

The girls cruised to a 77-35 win against Hastings in their first-round game. Jackie Lavitt had 22 points and 11 rebounds and senior captain Ally Silfen added 22 points and eight rebounds.
