RYE BROOK, N.Y. The Blind Brook girls basketball team earned a spot in the Section 1 Class B Final Four Wednesday with a convincing 54-36 victory over Croton and is set to meet Dobbs Ferry Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in a semifinal matchup at the Westchester County Center.
The No. 2 seed Trojans look to push past No. 3 Dobbs Ferry for a chance to play the winner of the other semifinal game between No. 4 Kennedy and top-seeded Irvington at 8 p.m. Irvington is the two-time defending Section 1 and state champion.
Blind Brook is led by top scorers Ali Silfen and Leah Saliba who scored 17 and 18 points respectively in the victory over Croton. Shannon Reddy, Sabrina Scappatura and Jacqueline Lavitt lead a strong support group that plays smart defense.
Dobbs Ferry boasts a stingy defense led by guards Jeana Corradina, Alyssa Chipelo, Foresti, Midori Kihara and inside post player Kristy Degener.
Blind Brook has an edge with its offense and both teams play solid defense. This game may be decided on which team can make free throws and defend the big County Center floor.
