Forty-eight boys and girls teams were set to compete in the two-day event, the biggest overall sports event of the year for Somers.

"It's always a great meet," Somers Athletic Director Roman Catalino told Daily Voice on Friday's opening day. "We went to a two-day event a while back, and in terms of numbers this is our biggest event.

"In many cases, kids - as well as their parents - have run at this event," Catalino added. There's a lot of tradition, a lot of returning teams, and a few out-of-section teams. Everyone loves coming out to this meet."
