RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- Rye Brook residents can vote Tuesday on the proposed 2013-14 budget for the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District, as well as for members of the Board of Education.
The proposed 2013-14 budget is $41,252,239, a 3.23 percent increase over last year's budget. If approved, the tax levy will increase 3.25 percent. The budget includes four new teachers at the middle school, two teachers at the elementary school and a new guidance counselor.
Residents will also be voting on a proposed Energy Performance Contract for the school district's facilities. This will designate up to $3.14 million to be spent on upgrades to the heating and ventilation systems at the schools to make them more energy efficient. The district predicts that the energy cost savings will pay for the projects over time.
There is one seat open on the Board of Education, which Ryan S. Goldstein is running unopposed to fill.
Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the gymnasium at Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street School, 390 North Ridge St.
