PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester residents will be able to vote Tuesday on the proposed 2013-14 school budget and for members of the Board of Education.
The proposed budget for the 2013-14 school year is $85,194,914, a 4.76 percent increase over last year's $81.3 million budget. The tax levy will increase 2.83 percent. Among the additions in the school budget are security guards at the elementary schools, three teachers at the middle school and a math teacher at the high school.
There is one open seat on the Board of Education. Incumbent Carolee Brakewood is seeking re-election, with challenger James Carriere also seeking a spot on the board.
Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the gymnasium at Port Chester Middle School, 113 Bowman Ave.
