Six college students have been participating in the collaborative experience, a component of the Project Focus Partnership Program, to help nearly 50 schoolchildren. The program’s objective is to establish a mentoring connection between youth and specially trained college students through civic/leadership skills and academic support.

The college students provided homework help, tutoring and mentoring at three locations including the Port Chester-Rye Brook Library, Don Bosco Center in Port Chester, and Westhab in Mount Vernon.

The program is a collaboration with the New York Campus Compact and the AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) Program.
