Tello was recently named as a 2014 AP Scholar by The College Board, and has been inducted into the following honor societies: Spanish, Tri-M Music, Mu Alpha Theta (math), science and the National Honor Society. In addition, she participates in numerous clubs and organizations, including the Girl Scouts, Rye Town Community Band, and the Greater Westchester Youth Orchestra. At PCHS, she is a member of the Drama Club, the Marching Band, the Select Choir and the varsity bowling team. She has been honored for her musical abilities by being selected for various All-State/All-County musical groups. A talented clarinetist, Tello was chosen this week to be a member of this year’s All-State Symphonic Band. High school juniors and seniors from across New York State are selected for All-State groups through a rigorous audition process at the previous spring’s NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival. Tello received a rating of “A+,” with a perfect score of 100, on her required scales, sight-reading and Level Six solo music, the Solo de Concours by Messager. She is also being considered for All-Eastern musical groups. The All-State Band will perform at the New York State Music Association’s (NYSSMA) annual Winter Conference, held in Rochester, on Dec. 7, 2014.
