PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Seventh-graders Gabriel Valdovinos and Joshua Desenclos have known each other since they were in pre-school and have been friends ever since.
"His mother was our teacher in pre-K," said Gabriel,12.
Both friends go to Port Chester Middle School and though they aren't in the same classes, they said they eat lunch together and usually play wallball afterward.
When classes are done for the day, they like to hang out at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center across the street, playing basketball or riding their bikes around town.
Unfortunately for them, some of their favorite shops like Waldenbooks and Last Licks Ice Cream have since closed, but they said theyre looking forward to the arrival of new smoothie chain Red Mango.
"I can't wait until it opens," said Joshua. "We need somewhere to hang out."
