PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester Middle School's sixth- and seventh-graders are participating in Rachel's Challenge, an antibullying campaign, on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Assemblies are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and will feature a guest leader from the Rachel's Challenge organization. The public is welcome to attend.
Followup activities are planned for the school, where trained leaders will continue the momentum that begins in the assemblies. ?
Rachel's Challenge is a national program founded by the family of Rachel Scott, the first student killed in the Columbine High School massacre in Littleton, Colo., in 1999. It emphasizes the consequences of bullying and the need for tolerance and accepting differences.
?This is the fourth year that Rachel’s Challenge has been brought to Port Chester Middle School. More information about the program can be found on the group's website .
