Port Chester Students Receive AP Honors

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- More than 20 Port Chester High School students and graduates recently earned AP Scholar Awards.

Port Chester High School Principal Mitchell Combs announced that 24 students and June graduates earned AP Scholar Awards from the College Board "in recognition of their exceptional achievement" on Advanced Placement Exams through June 2013, according to a notice from the school district.

“This year’s AP Scholar roster is the largest our high school has achieved. It represents our efforts over the years to encourage our students to challenge themselves to their greatest capacity,” said Combs in the release. “As I have repeatedly asserted, we are a high school on the rise and this is one way we measure our students’ academic achievement. Congratulations to our outstanding scholars, who each have worked very hard to achieve these distinctions.”

Six Port Chester High School graduates were granted AP Scholar with Distinction Awards, according to the release, for scoring at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. The students are Leonardo M. Evangelista, Jillian M. Ferretti, Eduardo Gonzalez, Jason A. Ippolito, Anika Krause and Astrid Vargas Hernandez, according to the notice. 

The six students granted AP Scholar with Honor Awards, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. were Caitlyn Celestino, Caroline S. Dela Cruz, Anne Marie Esposito, Susana Garcia, Lukas Patrizio and Katherine Wojton, according to the notice.

The 12 students named AP Scholars for receiving grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams were Safiat A. Adeogun, Natalia Babula, Jonathan N. Henry, Sarah K. Kamensky, Leticia Lua, Oscar Merino, Omar Neyra, Daniella O. Olonilua, Emmanuel O. Olonilua, Layla Santos, Stephanie Turcios and Juan C. Vargas, according to the release.
