Port Chester Student Cinematographer Wins Award

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester High School senior Adam Umanzor won the Silver Award for Chapter Display at the Skills USA New York Leadership and Skills Conference in Syracuse.

Umanzor will attend Westchester Community College in September to major in cinematography. He created a winning display that incorporated a video he edited using footage of President Obama at various press conferences.

“We are so proud of Adam’s accomplishments,” said Stacey Wolff, Umanzor's guidance counselor.

Adam takes BOCES vocational classes in digital cinematography in the mornings and academic classes at PCHS in the afternoons. Skills USA is a national organization. Each state holds a Leadership and Skills Conference, with competitions in more than 80 categories including animation, masonry and culinary arts. Winners in each category compete in a national competition in June.
