Port Chester Schools Receive Increase In State Aid

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester schools will receive $372,091 more in state aid in the 2013-14 budget, which legislators passed and Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed last Thursday.

The budget allocates $16,894,384 for Port Chester schools. This is a 2.3 percent increase from last year, when Port Chester received $16,522,293.

This amount does not include other educational aid that will be distributed in the 2013-14 year, including $203 million in fiscal stabilization funding, $75 million in State of the State initiatives such as full-day prekindergarten and extended learning grants, and $50 million in performance and management efficiency grants that will be distributed through a competitive process.

The 2013-14 state budget includes $21.1 billion in school aid, a $1 billion increase from last year. Funding that has not been distributed yet represents 37 percent of the year-to-year increase.
