Port Chester Marching Band Wins Keep On Rolling

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – The acclaimed Port Chester High School Marching Band , which was most recently awarded for its performance at three separate competitions, has a full schedule of events and competitions this season.

The band’s 2012-2013 show is “The Lion King” and the students have adorned their uniforms before the game with tiger and zebra stripes as well as other animal prints. The show is presented in three parts with music from Disney’s “The Lion King” beginning with “To Die For,” “The Circle of Life” and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.”

The marching band won first place with a score of 78 percent as well as the honor of Best Music, Best Visual and Best Effects at a competition at the Verona High School U.S. Bands Competition in New Jersey. This season the band was also awarded Best Music, Best Visual, Best Effect, Best Guard, Best Percussion and won first place in its class at a Pequannock High School U.S. Bands Competition on Sept. 29 in New Jersey. The crew earned its initial first place win of the season at the Brien McMahon High School U.S. Bands Competition in Norwalk, Conn. on Sept. 22 along with awards for Best Music, Best Visual and Best Effects.

Here’s what’s next for the Port Chester High School Marching Band:

Saturday, Oct. 13

1:30 p.m. Port Chester High School home football game against Mamaroneck High School.

11 p.m. The Yamaha Cup, U.S. Bands Competition, Met Life Stadium at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J. Tickets are $25 and is good for the entire show of 58 bands from morning until midnight.

Sunday, Oct. 14 : 1 p.m. Rescheduled Columbus Day Parade beginning at Hawthorne Avenue in Rye Brook and marching east along Westchester Avenue through Port Chester.

Saturday, Oct. 20: 1:30 p.m. Port Chester High School Homecoming game against Saunders

Sunday, Oct. 21: U.S. Bands Competition New York State Championships at Hofstra University in Hempstead.

Saturday, Oct. 27: U.S. Bands Competition Bunnell High School in Stratford, Conn.

Saturday, Nov. 3: U.S. Bands Competition New England State Championships at JFK Stadium in Bridgeport, Conn.

Sunday, Nov. 11: U.S. Bands National Championships, Met Life Stadium at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J.

Thursday, Dec. 20: 7:30 p.m. Port Chester High School Holiday Concert.
