Port Chester Kids To Join In Homecoming Parade

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – For the first time, about 900 Port Chester Middle School students and faculty members will hold a Homecoming Parade to Port Chester High School on Thursday.

“I want our middle school students to take pride in being Port Chester Rams and in wearing the blue and white,” says Pat Swift, the middle school principal, in a news release.

The students and faculty faculty members – most dressed in blue and white, the Port Chester Middle School and High School colors – will leave their school about 1:40 p.m.,  to parade to Port Chester High School’s Ryan Stadium where middle school students will participate in the high school Fall Sports Pep Rally, beginning at 2 p.m.

The school planned a previous attempt for a parade two years ago, but was thwarted by inclement weather. If the sunny forecast for Thursday holds, the students will make new history. The parade route will take the students and teachers up South Ridge Street to Neuton Avenue and then up to the stadium.

High School Principal Mitchell Combs said, “We are all part of the same school family. This is a terrific event to spread school spirit throughout our community.”
