Port Chester HS Musicians Bloom in Spring Concert

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - More than 150 Port Chester High School students sang and played into Spring on Wednesday evening at the High School's 2012 Spring Concert.

The evening began with a rendition of the Port Chester High School Alma Mater by the Select Choir made up of 26 students. Then the 19 person Women's Choir who performed three songs including "Chain of Fools".

Next up was the 101 student Concert Band featuring All-County musicians Emma Manos, John Montemurro, Brooke Pietrafesa, Isabella Roca, and Emmalie Tello.

Following the intermission, the larger Concert Choir sang four songs, including an original composition by experineced composer and Port Chester-Rye Union Free Schoosl District Superintendent Edward Kliszus. Kliszus contributed an original composition for the district instrumental concert as well.

"One of the highlights was the premiere of an original composition by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edward Kliszus," District Music Chair Ken Kraut said. "(It is) titled 'Hope', based on the Emily Dickinson poem of the same name."

The show concluded with the Jazz Band playing three songs, including "Moondance" made popular by Van Morrison and arranged by John Berry.

The three choirs were directed by Linda Penney and the two bands were directed by Robert Vitti.
