Port Chester High's 'Rent!' Production In Running For Presitigious Awards

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. --  The Port Chester High School production of "RENT!," has been nominated for six Metropolitan High School Theater Awards, Josh Tenzer, producer and drama coach and special education teacher, announced.

"RENT!" was peformed for three nights in March for three nights.

These are the Port Chester nominees: 

  • Actor In a Leading Role: Charlie Simmons (he will perform at the Metro Awards ceremony)
  • Acting Performance - Male: Liam Herbert 
  • Acting Performance - Female: Briana Velazquez 
  • Outstanding Duet: Emmalie Tello and Gisella McCallion 
  • Musical Direction: Michael Mastroianni 
  • Lobby Display 46 area high school productions are in the running for the honors

To win a Metro Award, schools must enter and have judges attend their performances.

The awards are produced by Nyack’s Helen Hayes Youth Theater. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 1 at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains.
