Port Chester High School Graduates Embrace Life

PORT CHESTER N.Y. – Port Chester High School seniors Eric Musto and Robert Rodriguez were happy to graduate from the school Saturday.

“It’s great. I never thought it would come,” said Musto, who will continue his education at Westchester Community College in the fall.

Friday’s cancellation because of storms did not put a damper on the exciting day.

Rodriguez found the day meaningful.

“I love it. It’s great. It never felt better,” said Rodriguez. “My friends graduated with me. My parents are here. There’s nothing else like it. I love it,” he said.

Salutatorian Jenny Maldonado told her classmates to strive for more than life itself, referencing today’s social term of "YOLO," or You Only Live Once.

“It is the reason we are in denial of growing up,” said Maldonado. “Let us live up to everybody else, accept responsibility and respect, for we do only live once,” she said.

Valedictorian Aimee Naranjo told her classmates to do the best in everything they do in life, and also referred to YOLO.

“Remember that life is not only a decision. We only get to do it once. But make sure you do it right because you only get to do it once,” said Naranjo. “Take every opportunity that opens up because you’ll never really know where it may lead,” she said.
