This breakfast was the first such get-together of the 2014-15 school year and is an extension of the ongoing relationship the district enjoys with local clergy and community service organizations.
These religious and community leaders not only partner with the district in advocating for more state aid but work to help provide after-school and summer programs and other student support. At the meeting, Kliszus, Assistant Superintendent Frank Fanelli and Board of Education Trustee Jim Dreves shared issues and opportunities facing the district, including enrollment growth leading to space challenges, options for after-school programs for students and the future possibility of universal prekindergarten for 4-year-olds, along with requirements of finding suitable locations for a pre-K program.
The Clergy Coalition of Port Chester members discussed the details of an upcoming Interfaith Thanksgiving Baby Shower, for which they are collecting basics required by new mothers in need.

Jim O’Hanlon (St. Paul Lutheran Church); and Patrick Swift, Port Chester Middle School principal.
