He was trained as a "dual purpose" K9 to detect narcotics, article searches and tracking. King also received SWAT training and was deployed with the Department's Critical Incident Response Team, which serves to clear buildings and search for dangerous suspects.

King assisted in numerous arrests and in finding narcotics, firearms, evidence and missing persons during his service to Clarkstown. The 10-year-old German Shepherd had been working with handler Officer Robert Reilly for two years.

King is credited with locating several violent felons over the years, and assisted in the 2009 apprehension of Eric Lau, who was convicted for the murder of resident Jami Elrich.

He is also credited with tracking and locating a missing elderly male with dementia who disappeared when the temperature was below freezing on a winter night.

King performed K9 demonstration events at schools, community groups and the Clarkstown Recreation Summer Camps.
