Cliffside Park’s library sustained fire, smoke and water damage that destroyed books and damaged offices this morning after a transformer outside the building exploded and flames filled the building.
Borough officials informally have theorized that the transformer ignited a spark around 7:15 a.m., apparently sending a damaging surge into the library, which is next to the municipal complex and across from the high school on Palisade Avenue.
