Fairfield Man Charged with Child Abuse

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Fairfield man is accused of sexually abusing his two minor children earlier this year. The man, a 48-year-old Kings Highway East resident, was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor Friday afternoon.

The man's name is being withheld to prevent identification of the children.

Fairfield Police began investigating the man after receiving a report from the Department of Children and Families in January. Police would not release details about the victims or the suspected abuses. Investigators believe the acts occurred while the children, who do not live with the man, were staying with him in December.

After a series of interviews with the victims and the suspect, detectives filed for an arrest warrant last week. The man turned himself in on Friday after learning of the warrant. He was released on a promise to appear in court, and he is due to face charges on Feb. 22.
