The former Mount Kisco home of Bennett Cerf, founder of Random House Publishing, is officially on the market.

And a taste of history could be yours.

Cerf purchased the 1927 Colonial revival on 80 Orchard Road in the 1930s, hosting numerous notable individuals over the years including Frank Sinatra, John F. Kennedy, and Dr. Seuss.

In addition to his successful publishing career, Cerf, who was married to Actress Phyllis Fraser, is known for his lectures across the U.S. and his numerous TV appearances on the panel game show “What’s My Line?”

Also known as “The Columns,” named for its two-story columned veranda, the eight-bedroom, 5,789 square-foot home sits on 9.63-acres, and was basically built for entertaining. It mirrors resort-style living with rolling meadows, pristine gardens overlooking the Kisco River, ponds, a golf course, swimming pool and tennis court.

There are also two separate guest houses where many prominent individuals, including Hollywood celebrities and elite members of New York City and Washington D.C., have stayed.

The house, now being offered by Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty for 1,999,000, was the couple's permanent country home.

The estate has undergone extensive renovations and currently boasts fully modern details while maintaining period character and charm. Formal furnishings and décor are present throughout, as well as an original brass plate on the front door that reads “Cerf.”
