Port Chester Interviews Five Clerk Candidates

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – The Port Chester Village Board of Trustees interviewed on Monday five candidates for the open village clerk position in executive session.

Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla said the board was impressed with all the candidates and is looking forward to filling the position.

"The level of experience and level of excitement that all the candidates have for the position, I'm excited about that," Pilla said.

The village has been operating without a clerk since Village Clerk Joan Mancuso retired on June 15.  At the board of trustees meeting in early June, a resolution to appoint former Rye Town Supervisor Robert Morabito to the post was presented by Trustee Sam Terenzi and voted down 4-3.

Pilla said a decision to present an offer to one of the candidates could come as early as next Monday's board meeting.

"We're looking to fill it as soon as possible," Pilla said.
