Cuomo Holds Rare Press Conference, Addresses Encounter With Teachout

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- It was an eventful Saturday for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

First, Cuomo held a rare press conference since a New York Times report that several of his aides interfered with the Moreland Commission, which was formed to investigate government corruption.

In a brief, six-minute encounter with reporters, Cuomo, when asked about his lack of public appearances and press availability, said "I campaign by doing my job," according to a report by New York True.

You can watch a video of the press conference here.

Cuomo was also asked about an awkward encounter with Zephyr Teachout, his challenger in Tuesday's Democratic primary, earlier in the day at New York City's Labor Day Parade. "I didn't have a chance to talk to her," Cuomo said, according to the report.

A video posted on New York True shows Teachout attempting to make eye contact with Cuomo while standing just a few feet away and even tapping Cuomo's running mate, Kathy Hochul, standing next to Cuomo, on the shoulder, without getting a response.
